As for knowing the boss fights, all video and text based guides for raids can be found under the Raiding Guides and Tools list of links on the left-hand side of our guild blog.

Raid Checkups:

  1. A gear check to make sure you have all proper gems, enchants and reforges.  Officers will inspect your gear and suggest that you use askmrrobot.com if you aren't sure of how to properly modify your gear.
  2.  If you are a deeps role, you will also undergo a five minute dummy trial to make sure you are pulling well over 90K deeps.
  3.  Test questions.  The officer will ask at least two random questions to make sure you know the fights.  Or they may ask you to give a brief summary of the fight such as explaining the different phases.  On the left-hand side of the guild blog you will find a list of links for raid guides and tools.  I highly recommend Icy-veins text-based guide or Gabestah's raid guides on Youtube.

Denarii and the Perpetual Macella

The macella was a courtyard in which ancient Roman moneychangers would set up stalls on a long bench called a bancu, from which the word bank is derived.  For our own purposes, this specific post on the guild blog will be a record of how much denarii everyone has.  Soon, a newly designated officer under the title of Imperial Mint Agent will issue out one denarius to each Perpetualean that joins us for either raid nights or team building exercises.  All levels are welcome and encouraged to join us for these team building exercises, while those who plan on raiding with us at any point will benefit most from these events.  Denarii can be used to purchase items from the Trade Pass tab of the Guild Keep.  Think of them as a bonus that will override the requirement of trading X amount of Cataclysm mats for something you wish to trade for in the Trade Pass tab. We'll see how our very own currency system works, perhaps further down the line we shall implement a new coin, the golden aureus that can be used in exchange for rare raid booty in the Plunder tab of the Guild Keep.

* We will be doing a Census every now and then to keep the alts on this roster updated. This way we know if you join us for raids on your alts, we can allocated denarii to your main character.

Perpetual Team Building Exercise IX

Have you what it takes to be one of the Perpetual? You are hereby summoned to prove your worth! Come hone your teamwork skills and have a blast with your fellow Perpetuleans! These team building exercises are a great way to develop communication skills, vital to raiding or just interpersonal communications in general. They're a surefire way to have fun with the guild as well.

Objectives: You and your team will be assigned a shape and number of team members to create it with. You must work together to form the shape within the time limit.

Props: 1) timer
2) focusing crystals (in-game JC recipe)

Rules:
  1. You can not use anymore team members than that which is called for.
  2. Your team must complete the shape within the time limit.

Rewards:

Each team member will receive the same amount of Perpetual marks (aka denarius) per shape successfully completed. Some shapes award 1/2 a mark while others may award 1 mark.  Perpetual marks will be used by the guild in an upcoming effort points-based system. Think of these denarius as currency for the Trade Pass tab of the Guild Keep and other guild perks. More on these denarius at our next town hall meeting.

The Guild Keep

Trade Pass Tab ~ Perpetual's General Store!
Trade Pass Equivalency Chart I

Trade Pass Equivalency Chart II

 * Notice:  The Trade Pass Equivalency Charts were made based on our former server's outrageous economy, and I will be updating it to make it more appropriate for Lightbringer's economy. *

The Guild Keep has been completely revamped! The first and foremost rule: only Cataclysm items are accepted.  We are primarily a raiding guild that enjoys end-game PvP as well, so really only Cataclysm items are of the greatest benefit to the entire guild.  If you really appreciate your fellow guild mates, then giving to the guild should be an honor, not a chore.  Frequent donations paired up with truly getting to know your guild mates is a really easy way to gain ranks in Perpetual.  Do not be disheartened by the fact that you aren't able to withdraw from all the other tabs aside from the Trainables tab. Only officers are able to withdraw from the remaining tabs, but this doesn't mean that what you see is strictly off-limits.  The way the Guild Keep works is we give back to those that give, through the newly designed Trade Pass tab.  Think of it as a General Store for Perpetual guild members only.  What is donated to the guild's Cargo Bay I and Cargo Bay II tabs is funneled primarily into the Trade Pass tab so that guild mates that have been giving to the guild are able to obtain items from Trade Pass through a reasonable trade compared to buying expensively from the Auction House.  Think of this as insider trading at its finest!  This is a remarkable new aspect to our guild and I am proud to say that we may be the only guild on this server that is using such a system.  We are pioneering our own flourishing economy!  If you see something you'd like from Trade Pass tab, be sure to ask any of the officers (Cirrus rank and higher) for the items and refer to the Trade Pass Equivalency Chart attached to the top of this post to see what items you would need to make the fair trade.  There are several different options to choose from, ranging from ores and herbs to enchanting materials and leathers.  Remember to donate in moderation when you know you will be needing something from the Trade Pass tab.  For instance, just because you donated three stacks of elementium ores last week doesn't mean you can include that in your trade for items you want in the Trade Pass today.  One great example of the benefit of the new Trade Pass system is that you no longer have to waste over 300 gold on the Auction House on Inferno Rubies.  Simply refer to the Trade Pass Equivalency Chart and trade the required materials for the raw Inferno Ruby and get one of the maxed Jewel Crafters in Perpetual to cut it for you.  I am excited about this new Guild Keep arrangement because this way abusing the system has been nearly eliminated.  Listed below are the tab names and what to donate in them.  Remember, you can always read the Guild Keep tab-specific information in-game as well.

* Please note, if you are unable to donate trade gathering materials, you still have many options.  You can donate Embersilk Cloth, Maelstrom Crystals and other enchanting materials you get in heroics, or you can donate green or blue Cataclysm gear that you find in heroics or off mobs in the world since these can be disenchanted.  You can also donate gold.  One other brilliant option is to donate your JP (Justice Points) that you no longer need.  You can use them to purchase ilvl 378 JP bracers for guild mates eager to get geared.  For more information on this, skip down to the information about the Plunder tab.

Trainables:

Glyphs, trade profession recipes and seasonal quest items.

Cargo Bay I:

What to donate: Cataclysm ores, herbs, volatiles & gems.

The ores will be used primarily to prospect into raw gems to be sent to Trade Pass so guild mates can purchase them at a reasonable price/trade and have them cut by a guild Jewel Crafter. They may also be used to replenish the Trade Pass obsidium, elementium and pyrium bars stock.  Some herbs will be sent to Trade Pass while most will be filtered into the Herbology tab to be used for raid flasks.

Cargo Bay II:

What to donate:  Embersilk cloth, Cataclysm leathers, food and enchanting mats or green/blue Cataclysm gear to be used to disenchant into enchanting mats.  Note: Delicate Wing would be a very great food mat to donate.

Embersilk cloth will be used to make bags or leg enchants. Leathers will be used to make leg enchants. Food mats will be used to make raid buff food for the Raid Lunchbox tab. Enchanting mats can be purchased/traded for at a reasonable price from guild mates for enchants.

 Trade Pass:

General Store for Perpetual. Instead of going to the AH for trade mats, you can come here to purchase mats at a reasonable discount price or exchange a fair amount of Cata mats. A trade equivalency chart can be found on the guild blog. Click on the link "Trade Pass" to find the equivalency chart.

Get the mats according to the equivalency chart and speak to an officer to trade. As a general rule, do not request an item that is the last of its kind. so we know what and where to restore.

Herbology:

The majority of herbs donated to the Guild Keep will find their way here to be used to supply Perpetual's raiding forces. Herbs will be rinsed thoroughly, crushed, boiled or steamed, then mixed with a vast array of eccentric ingredients ranging from the prickliest porputile spike to the finest of phoenix feathers. All flasks will be stored in immense vats found in Chris and Mattie's basements before being shipped to our Guild Keep.

Raid Lunchbox:

Here you can find raid flasks, potions and elixirs as well as raid buff food. In order to show appreciation to your fellow guild mates that have contributed to making raid flasks and buff food, please do your best to contribute either Cata herbs into the Cargo Bay I tab or Cata food mats such as Delicate Wing into the Cargo Bay II tab. Delicate Wing is a much needed raid feast material.

Plunder:

Herein lies the plunder your fellow guild mates have found amongst fallen foes from deep within the most formidable of raids.

If you no longer need JP (Justice Points), you can help guild mates gear up by purchasing JP bracers. Conversely, if you need ilvl 378 JP bracers, you may write a letter to an officer w/ the name of your char and specific JP bracers you need. An officer will take your message & deposit it here as a ticket so those willing can use their surplus JP to purchase your bracer.

Perpetual Guild Ranks

We are Perpetual.
As mentioned in the first post of this guild blog, everyone's ranks will be reset to zero. This ensures a completely fair ground on which those interested in ranking up can be assured that they will earn their ranks through contribution to the guild and not just because they've known any of the leaders for a much longer time compared to the rest of the guild.  A great way to start earning trust and ranks in our guild is to get to know your guild mates. Don't just use the guild for its level 25 perks.  When you sign on, greet everyone, or when guild mates sign on, greet them.  Ensure that everyone feels like they belong.  Above all, do your best to help foster a true sense of camaraderie in our guild, for that is what's attracted many to us in the past.  You don't have to be able to raid with us every week to be able to progress through the ranks.  Give back to the guild, don't just ask for things or for help.  Make sure that you are a team player, for every person contributing to our guild in the most effective manner they can will only make us that much stronger.  Listed below are the guild ranks and privileges that are bestowed upon one earning their rank.  Note:  Every higher rank you wish to pursue includes continually meeting all the requirements from the lower ranks in addition to the advanced rank.

Offer me your sword and spells, and I shall bring you victory.  Offer your companionship, and I shall give you loyalty.  Offer your service, and together we shall gain honor. We are Perpetual.

Nimbus:

In Latin, nimbus refers to "rain."  Upon joining Perpetual, you are a rain drop.  You have fallen from the realm of wings and ethereal beings and now you must undergo your own trial of ascension.  Fear not, for you are never alone in Perpetual.  We are here to help ensure that you are given a seat amongst friends, brothers and sisters, champions.  You do not need to raid or PvP with us every week.  All we ask of you is that you make an effort to earn our trust and companionship, show that you are worthy of becoming a true comrade.  Follow the requirements set in stone above, and you shall earn your place in the skies.

 Stratus:

The first of the two most basic cloud shapes, stratus in Latin means "straight" as in "flat" or "layer."  Fittingly, you are just ascending from ground zero.  To get to this rank, you must have been in Perpetual as an active player for at least over 48 hours, or if you have been demoted in a disciplinary manner, you must have proved that you are eager to work things out and repair the qualities in your character that have earned our trust.

Privileges:
  •  50 gold guild repair
Cumulus:

Cumulus in Latin refers to a "heap," "pile" or "accumulation."  This is the second of the two most basic of cloud shapes.  Cumulus clouds take on an immeasurable variety of shapes that tend to look like animals or people.  You too must be able to weave yourself through the tapestry of Perpetual and take on the basic habits of a team player.

Requirements:
  • Greet everyone in guild chat
  • Contribute Cataclysm trade materials or gold to the Guild Keep at least regularly enough so that officers can see your name appear as donating into the Guild Keep.
  • Show decency and bear the guild name proudly, not sullying its name by immaturity in trade chat or any means beyond the guild.  Prove yourself a character worthy of more than just a recruit.
 Privileges:
  • 100 gold guild repair
 Pileus:

In Latin, pileus means "skullcap." Such clouds are often found attached to mountain tops.  Individuals of this rank are more likely to be "hired" provisionally when the Altocumulus rank is short on a few for Dragon Soul raids.  To obtain this rank, you must be willing to exert enough force and tackle adversity––traits often found in team players, to reach even the highest of summits.

Requirements:
  • Be pleasant to all and freely converse with the guild either in guild chat or more ideally, ventrilo.  Do not be a recluse.  One of the primary traits that attracts many to our guild is the true sense of camaraderie we adhere to.
  • Spend time with the guild through raids, heroics, battlegrounds/arenas, guild events.
  • Keep up on current events by reading the guild blog weekly.
  • Contribute to the Guild Keep at least biweekly.  Contributing Cataclysm trade materials and raiding gear would be brilliant.
Privileges:
  • 150 gold guild repair
*Altocumulus:

Altocumulus are clouds that sail the skies around 20, 000 feet.  Altocumulus clouds on a summer morning typically entail thunderstorms later in the day.  This is the newly designated Progression Raiding Rank.  To be earn this rank, you must master the art of teamwork as the finest of your trades in WoW.  Doing so will show your capacity to bring blood and thunder as we delve into the most formidable of raids.

Requirements:
  • Meet the gear, heal and deeps requirements (soon to be posted on guild blog) for Dragon Soul raids.  Know how to play your class effectively.
  • Be willing to go into off-spec or sit out on a raid to allow others geared enough to join a raid. This is vital.  You must not hold a grudge or get annoyed when this happens.  We may not have enough guild mates geared and informed on the new raid encounters to have two ten-man raid teams for Dragon Soul, so it is only fair to give everyone a chance to raid if they meet the requirements.
  • Know the fights for Dragon Soul Raids
  • Be able to talk in ventrilo.
  • Be able to generally make at least one raid night a week. Real life should always take priority over WoW, so we will not throw a fit if you have to miss any given raid night.
  • Because this rank will be raiding often, you will be entitled to raiding flasks and buff food generously donated from your fellow guild mates.  You must have at least one maxed trade profession and be able to contribute a fair amount of Cataclysm trade materials to the Guild Keep, at least once a week.  For example, one full stack of Cataclysm herbs or ores would be sufficient.

Priveleges:
  • 200 gold guild repair
  • Guild invites
 Cirrus:

These clouds reign the skies above 18,000 feet.  Cirrus is a Latin term meaning "curl of hair," and they look like elegant locks of hair lounging about in the high altitudes.  Thus, the Cirrus are the officers in the guild.

Requirements:

To be one of the Cirrus, you must have earned the trust of the other officers and proven yourself worthy of leadership of the guild.  We don't ask you to be on 24/7, but we do ask that you are able to be there for the guild when you are signed into the game.  Sure, you are allowed your own free time to yourself, everyone is entitled to that, but if you are habitually off doing your own thing and not contributing to the guild then maybe an officer rank isn't best for you.  Be able to generally make at least one raid night a week and be able to lead a raid through ventrilo, know all raid boss fights and be able to conduct weekly raid checkups and dummy trials with guild mates (as a raid officer) or be able to schedule and maintain weekly PvP guild events and help guild mates farm honor or conquest points (as a PvP officer).  Also, you must have at least one maxed trade profession and be able to contribute Cataclysm trade materials weekly to the Guild Keep.  An example of an acceptable offering would be at least two full stacks of herbs, ores or savage leathers, x40 Embersilk cloth, or a reasonable amount of enchanting materials per week.  As an officer of the guild, you must be willing to help the guild flourish and this shouldn't be too much to ask for.  Additionally, be willing to help keep the Guild Keep organized.  You must be able to make much of the officer meets and be willing to talk in ventrilo and offer input to officer discussions.  Earning the trust of the leaders and the guild mates is vital.  Another important, but not required act is offering to help pay for our guild ventrilo. This is not a service, but consider it an honor.  It is one of the many ways in which you can show your appreciation for your guild mates.

Privileges:
  • 300 gold guild repair
  • Unlimited Guild Keep withdrawals
  • Guild invites, demotions, kicks
Cumulonimbus:  Chris and Miranda

Cumulonimbus are clouds that span a vast distance, ranging from as low as near the earth's surface to as high as 50,000 feet.  Fittingly, the Cumulonimbus are individuals that are most worthy of leadership and they are humble enough to have earned their ranks without requesting them.  Think of this rank as the consuls back in Roman history.

The Founding of Perpetual

We are Perpetual

Perpetual was founded five years ago by Tidesroyale, and originally under the name LOSTies (formerly a LOST fan-based guild).  As of Saturday, January 14th, in the year 2012, LOSTies underwent a complete revamp including the new name Perpetual, a new tabard, and new ranks.  Perpetual continues to instill the values that LOSTies spearheaded back then, but this time we will ensure progression while retaining the same team environment we've come to love.  My name is Tidesroyale, and I will be joined by Chenstout and Mirandah in the leadership of Perpetual.

Perpetual is a casual raiding guild, yet not in the sense that we will raid less than other guilds out there.  I use the term "casual" because I always do my best to preserve a chill, laid-back and respectful raiding atmosphere.  Also, I will not throw a fit if you miss out on any given raid night, and I will not get mad if we are in the middle of a raid and you have to go AFK to change your baby's diaper or any other real life obligation.  I am a student at UCLA and I work at the same time, so I know that RL should always take priority over WoW. This guild will never harbor any elitists, so do not fear making mistakes.  That is the only way to learn more effectively.  We will work together and learn the raids together for I will ensure a team-building environment.

Offer me your sword and spells, and I shall bring you victory.  Offer your companionship, and I shall give you loyalty.  Offer your service, and together we shall gain honour. We are Perpetual.

Respectfully,
Mattie, Mira and Tides
